Yes, it’s a nice capo, but it also just helped me find a new melody for an old song I’m recording. I’ve often thought the chorus doesn’t quite do what it’s supposed to do and this morning as I was messing around with microphone placement and seating arrangements (more on that later) I clipped the capo onto the guitar, thinking I’d try a different song, but then played the one I’d originally intended to record, and there it was… new melody, chorus now carrying its proper weight along with the verses. It’s like the “real” song has revealed itself—after more than ten years of me playing its masked predecessor.
